Underwater: Saturday, Sept. 5 | 10pm

by Maggie Molloy

Music is like water: it can be calm and serene, or choppy and chaotic. It can lift you, carry you, or bury you—it can immerse you in its waves.

On this Saturday’s episode of Second Inversion, we’re exploring music inspired by water. We’ll get lost in the waves with music ranging from rippling rivers to epic storms and ethereal whale songs.

To listen, tune in to KING FM on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 10pm PT.

  1. I remember listening to this episode and wrote down the songs played this night, but lost the list. Is there any way to find out what was played?

    • Thank you so much for tuning in! The pieces on this program are as follows:

John Luther Adams: Dark Waves (performed by Stephen Drury and Yukiko Takagi)

Philip Glass: Madeira River and Japurá River (both from Aguas da Amazonia; arranged and performed by Third Coast Percussion)

Carolina Eyck and Christopher Tarnow: A Whale in Love (an improvisation performed by the composers)

Michael Gordon: The Unchanging Sea (performed by pianist Tomoko Mukaiyama with the Seattle Symphony, conducted by Pablo Rus Broseta)
